Even though I've been talking about this trip for months now, it became real when I received my Australian working holiday visa three days ago, via email. Yes, they send visas through email now. When I applied for my Austrian student visa two years ago, I had to do it through the old-fashioned snail mail, wait two to four weeks, and receive my passport pack with a new shiny sticker in it granting me permission to live and study in Austria for exactly four months. Now, it took me all of 15 minutes to fill out an online form, and three days to get my electronic visa in my mail box. Excited as I was, the thrill that came with receiving the big package in the mail and seeing the shiny new page in my passport was definitely more exciting than the thrill I got staring at the black and white email.
All that aside, I officially leave in seven weeks for Australia. I have lists of things I need to take care of, all of which seem impossible to complete... I am nervous to do this all alone (traveling, finding a job, finding a place to live), but I am excited for all the new challenges.
Stay tuned as I update on the process of leaving, and on my trip while I'm there. I plan on posting pictures and video blogs, along with the advice and lessons I learn.
Cheers!
